Issue#2045: Sony - windows 10 update broke my computer

  • sony vaio T series
    model: SVT151A11L
    product name: SVT15115CXS

It came with windows 8. I upgraded to 8.1 a couple years ago. I upgraded to 10 about 3/4 months ago. I had it connected to the internet recently and set automatic updates to operate around 2:30 am in the morning. I woke up and saw that an update was going through ( I don't have the update and forget how to look into the system files to find it but can if needed). I tried to use the laptop that night after work and it was frozen.

Windows operating system would not work and I kept getting a critical process error. Restart would not work. none of sony's repair options would work. I tried going back to the previous version on the laptop and that did not work. I have the recovery disk but that also would not work.

I performed a chkdsk /r on the harddrive and that recovered some bad sectors. I was able to get my files off the harddrive with another computer and am debating whether to go to windows 7 or how to go back to 8 (and eventually 8.1).

While trying to install 7 I retrieved all the drivers from sony's site for my laptop (a complete pain in the a$$). And have recovery media for 10 as well. When trying to install 7 I noticed I have two disks: Disk 0 has 7 partitions and Disk 1 has 2. The recovery partition looks like it has the previous operating system on it but Sonys recovery software has not worked to recover it.

Any help or suggestions on how to quickly recover a usable operating system would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I will try to get 8 back on it instead of 7 but I am not sure where to get my license from though.... they key is not on the bottom of the laptop.

  • Issue#21035: Lenovo - Windows update KB2459268 from Lenovo Software update broke my X230 on RDP/ sleep I think

Backstory: I finally got around to performing some updates on my X230 that I usually keep on internal LAN running machines.  It has Win 7 Pro SP1 installed and I checked the update for KB2459268 through Lenovo's recommended software update at the time and thought nothing of it when everything installed and updated properly.  Restarting my machine and RDP to a host and everything worked as normal.  Then putting the X230 to sleep and.... the screen went off like normal, the power button did the usual beating light like normal, but the computer did not sleep!  It kept running and worst yet, did not respond whatsoever to ANY keyboard input, ctrl alt del, esc, power button, nothing!!!  I finally had to force shutdown and figured, probably a glitch.  Did the same process again and yep, it seemed to sleep.  Woke it up, tried it again, and sure enough, same issue (no sleep and no response). I kept getting the same issue for the next week so finally I did

  • Issue#38855: Geforce - NVIDIA Driver Missing from my computer? Possibly after Windows 10 update

Hey, after awhile of my computer running slower than I thought it should be, I looked into it and noticed that my NVIDIA Display Driver is completely gone from my computer. I'm unable to download any other driver because during the System Check part of the installation, it states that I do not have the hardware. I'm not able to access my NVIDIA Control Panel. Incase it helps, my computer is a Lenovo Z710 Ideapad, and the specs are: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ 8.00GB RAM 64-bit Operating System. I've tried everything I can possibly think of but nothing seems to work so far. If you have any possible solutions please let me know and I'll get back to you ASAP! Thanks!

  • Issue#39222: Windows 7 Update Issue

I put a brand new 1TB Hybrid SSD in a Dell Inspiron E5510 (I think thats the model). I then reloaded Windows 7 pro back on it. It worked fine, rebooted perfectly several times. So I ran the updates (All 208) of them and when it was finished, it was in startup repair and fails to start. I tried again by freshly reloading and same thing after updates, starts the Windows logo then goes into startup repair. I tested the hard drive and its good. Any ideas?

  • Issue#86835: Sony - Sony FS5 Firmware update Issue v1.10

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to a problem I have been facing when updating the firmware of my Sony FS5. When I try to update it on my PC it will not recognize it (this is with the AC adapter connected as well as the USB.) I get the connection through on my FS5 LCD saying it is connected, but it will not process onto my computer when going through the firmware update procedure. However, it connects and works fine on a mac. I did previously try connecting it to a mac, but had my battery connected instead of the AC adapter which then popped the message that I needed the AC connected. The only conclusion I can come to is that since the FS5 was first connected to a mac it formatted to a mac. I'm not 100% sure if that is accurate, so I am hoping someone can help me if I need to reset or how to troubleshoot this problem to work on both mac and PC, please! Thank you!

  • Issue#150208: Unable to update Photoshop Elements 14 on a Windows 10 computer

I am unable to update Photoshop Elements 14 on a Windows 10 computer. I get the message that another installer is working that needs to be closed first. The only other installer I see in Task Manager is the Windows installer, and it doesn't allow me to stop that task. Any suggestions on how I should proceed? I'm not a technical expert, so please "dumb it down" for me. Thanks!

  • Issue#151608: Sony - Can I safely update the bios on my Sony Vaio Duo 13 in Windows 10? SVD 13213CXW

Hello, I am having what appears to be a battery issue with my Sony Vaio Duo 13. I have read that some people have fixed this issue with a bios update, but my laptop already has windows 10 on it. The listed bios update says, "Must be installed before windows 8.1 update". I'm assuming, this means I should hold off flashing bios, but then I am stuck. Do you think it is now safe to update as of windows 10??? or should I cross my fingers that they are going to come out with a new bios update for windows 10?

  • Issue#155776: [ubuntu] Having an issue with a USB install on a new Windows computer

I recently purchased a new HP laptop, running Windows 10. I have a USB drive of Ubuntu 15.10 64 bit. I am having some issues with this though. I set the computer to boot from USB first. Once it gets to the GRUB menu, if I tell it to try without installing, it will often go to a blank screen and just sit there. If I hit C first, then ESC, then try without installing, it seems to work. I am able to use the computer from that point, on the live USB. But once I tell it to install Ubuntu (I intend to dual boot), I proceed to the window with the "download updates, third party software" and hit continue, I then get a blank screen. I'm a bit baffled as to why it is doing this. The USB drive was a good working unit before I tried it in this computer. I have since used Pendrivelinux a few times to verify the install, and I ran an MD5 comparison to check the ISO file. What is the next step to resolve this? Computer is a new HP Pavilion 17 touchscreen.

  • Issue#196008: Sony - Wireless connectivity issues after windows 10 update

After updating my Sony Vaio to Windows 10, the wireless LAN connection has been weak. The wifi only connects if the laptop is a few meters from the wireless router. • Issue#196094: Intel - Windows 10 v1115 Update Issue

Hello: I'm really hoping that somebody can help me figure out why the update won't allow me to pick another volume to save the file to. It states that there isn't enough space (it needs 11.8 GB). However, when I select an external HDD and hit Refresh it tells me that I need another 8.99 GB free on C. I also tried saving to the microSD to no avail. Odder yet is that when I go to the Programs Control Panel it states that there is a total of only 1.11 GB of programs installed, and I haven't even had the opportunity to save any files internally yet so how would I even be able to delete an additional 8.99 GB (C says that 8.91 GB is free)? The only things on this PC right now are: iTunes (media is on an external HDD), Evernote, Chrome, Norton, VeraCrypt, Tresorit, and iCloud. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please HELP. Thanks! Model: STK1AW32SCBIOS: 0019Windows 10 v. 1511, 10586

Every time Windows 10 does an update, my monitor goes black, computer locks up and I have no way of knowing the update is the cause.  Because of this occurring many times, I've learned to wait a few hours before trying to use my computer.    Friends, with other brands of computers,  don't seem to have this problem.  Their screens show an update is occuring.  Is this an HP thing?

I need help to plan a strategy to update Photoshop Element 7 on my Window 7 (32 bit) Notebook.  I want to go to the newest version of Elements and update the Notebook to Windows 10. I have several thousand pictures in my catalog for Elements 7 and I want to make these changes in a safe manner so that I don't loose any of my work.  I do plan on backing up all of my photos and the catalog to an external disc before making any changes. I don't want to do something stupid that will prevent me recovering if things go wrong. I also purchased a new Windows 10 machine (64 bit) and want to also install the new Elements on it and use it as a backup when I travel. I believe that the license does allow me to install it on two computers and I will be the only Elements user on both computers. So my questions are:Will the 32 bit machine have a conflict with the 64 bit one over sharing files or whatever?Should I upgrade to the newer Elements or Windows first? If I upgrade Elements f

  • Issue#243051: Logitech - Need help with computer not recognizing mouse after Windows 10 update

I just did the update from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and now the computer will no longer recognize my mouse. The mouse is a Logitech G300. Its not detected by the logotech gaming software either, though it recognizes my keyboard no problem. When I plug it in I get a little pop up saying there was a problem and windows couldn't recognize the device. Under the device manager it appears as 'Unkown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)' and if I open up properties from the device manager the device's status is listed as: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed. I tried looking up some help for the issue, but the majority of problems similar to mine seem to be manually installing the driver from the logitech software, but the computer won't let me do that, I think because its not registering the device as a mouse so it won't accept the mouse drivers.
