  • Issue#301041: Linux - [SOLVED] CSS box-shadow showing as pink instead of black in Firefox on -current

OK, so I was having an issue where the CSS property "box-shadow" would show up as a red color if the alpha channel was set to anything lower than 1, making google hangouts and a bunch of other sites have some odd looking text and borders. In the process of writing up this post, trying to figure out when it started happening and looking at the changelog, I noticed that xorg was updated, so I went through my logs and configs in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d and disabled glamor, reloaded X and the issue is gone. So if anyone happens to see the issue themselves, I'm posting this here. Remove Code: Section "Module"         Load                "glamoregl" EndSection from /etc/X11/xorg.conf or whatever file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ that has that (in my case I had /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/glamor.conf)

  • Issue#411110: Lenovo - Lenovo Z50-70 with Realtek RTL8723BE wifi card Issue - SOLVED!

Hi all Thought I would share this after hours of internet searching what my issue could be and finding nothing except "Is your Wifi Enabled?" type responses.  So here is a succcint problem/solution that may work for you too. Problem A couple of week ago, my wifi connection started to be very slow at home and would not connect to public wifi hotspots, such as O2 Cloud.  I did the usual updating drivers etc with no success.  I eventually noticed that the signal bars on the discovered networks were weak and at public hotspots, extremely weak.  Made me think about the wifi antennae inside the laptop... Solution (only proceed if you dont mind your warranty possibly being invalidated, are competant and are fed up with your wifi not working) 1) Turn off laptop. 2) Remove Battery 3) Take the middle panel off the back of the laptop (three small screws out and side panel forward) 4) The wifi card is the small card near the memory cards.

  • Issue#940120: Linux - [SOLVED] Centos 7 wifi issue

I installed centos 7 on my laptop and i made the mistake of not setting up the network before clicking install... I did the first time, but i selected too many options and got a software error. second time around i rushed.. I am now hard wired, but before i did that, i mounted the dvd and installed the Network-Manager-wifi* with the rpm command. lspci shows my card, but nmtui only shows me the ethernet card and 'bridge' the gui network manager does not give me the option to add wifi. I am currently doing 'yum update' and will keep at it, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction. thanks UPDATE: after tinkering and doing a reboot, wifi option is there, and it automatically connected. So i guess i did choose that option during install...

  • Issue#2299: Linux - Java applications with gui start really slow when connected to a wireless network

I hope that I chose the right forum for my question because I'm not entirely sure where it fits best as my problem is a bit... let's say interesting: Whenever I start netbeans while I'm connected to a wireless network it starts really slow (it takes about 1 to 2 minutes). When I'm not connected to the internet (or connected through another device like a usb modem or LAN) it starts within 5 to 10 seconds. The same thing seems to happen with all java applications that have a gui. Once the programs have started they run fast and I don't experience any difference no matter if I'm connected to a wireless network or not. So far I have tried a few things including switching between OracleJDK and OpenJDK, reinstalling netbeans and setting the max ram to 8GB for the processes. Unfortunately none of these actions have shown any positive effect. At the moment I happen to be developing a somehow complex gui in java and it drives me crazy that I have to wait 15 to 30 seconds until it starts. C

  • Issue#2331: Linux - [SOLVED] Remote X no longer working on X server after upgrade to current

Hi, Prior to upgrading my desktop machine from 64-14.1 to 64-current last night I was able to open remote windows on the local screen. This no longer works. The local machine does still work as an X client, just not as an X server for remote windows. ssh was not used in any way, it even worked with telnet opening the initial connection so ssh is not the issue. netstat shows the local, upgraded, machine does not have port 6000 open even though defaultserverargs is empty. How to re-enable please?

  • Issue#52349: Linux - Lots of problems with Xubuntu and wireless network

Hello. A few days ago I posted on the Hardware forums having issues with my wireless adapter (it does not work if I do not unplug it and plug it again), and I found no solution. The problem is that now I am having more and more problems. The first two or three days after the Xubuntu installation I could surf on the internet perfectly and everything went fine. However, yesterday WiFi started to disconnect and connect again, be slow, etc. On a first quick search I saw that many people solved it by installing Wicd, and it was a big surprise when I did it and I saw that every wireless network near me is marked with "-1" signal. What's wrong with my adaptor? It works perfectly fine on Windows, and it is making me wanting to quit Linux forever. If someone could help me, I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance. EDIT: My adaptor is a TP Link TL-WN725N and I am using Xubuntu 15.10, 64 bit version

  • Issue#81190: Linux - Slackware64-14.2(current) 03FEB2016 eliloconfig and PXE boot installation

I've setup a PXE server per instructions in "usb-and-pxe-installers/" to network boot 14.1 and Current and install via NFS. The DHCP is handled via OpenWRT 15.05 on a Netgear router, PXE server is Slackware32-14.1 and syslinux-4.06. Everything work ok on both 32- and 64-bit systems with standard BIOS to boot and install Slackware. In each case I select from a menu to boot the correct kernel (32 or 64). However, when booting via PXE on UEFI systems, eliloconfig is not used - only liloconfig. Thus, the /dev/sda1 EFI partition (boot/efi, vfat) is not updated -even on a clean install with repartitioned, reformatted hard drive. Running eliloconfig after installation and before reboot does nothing. I can manually copy the appropriate files over to the EFI partition as a workaround. I would prefer to use PXE instead of DVD/USB. There seems to be a glitch somewhere, or is it because PXE boots the UEFI system initially as 32 bit? Code: # ls -gG --group-directories-first total

Any thoughts on how to fix this? schu
